Why wouldn't they be as good at their job as you are at yours?
If you always assume the worst about people when things don't work out the way they should, if you assume that they are lazy, incompetent or difficult, you'll never be able to make things work better. It's also a good way to avoid having to do anything about it: "I'm surrounded by idiots!" is not a problem you can solve.
If you assume they are as good at their job as you are at yours, then the problems must come from external limitations - and that's something you can fix. Maybe even together.
Taking the time to look beyond the obvious is almost always more difficult but the reward is a better working system that everyone can benefit from. Well worth the cost.
