Arrogance comes from never failing, confidence comes from failing and fixing it yourself
People who have never failed are dangerous:
they think they are infallible and take risks they don’t understand;
they don’t know what failure looks like and so won’t know when to stop;
they have no empathy for those failing and tend to dismiss them as incompetent;
and when they do fail they will have a very hard time getting over it and will try and put it out of their minds as soon as possible.
People who fail are more interesting to work with, make better managers and learn much faster. They are also more likely to take on higher risk projects and lead them to success.
Learn to fail, learn to fix it.
